This is a new model (Sept. 2011) introduced by Panasonic which combines a corded base station with a very nice large display, with cordless handset(s) (either one or two). It joins a rather large family of cordless phone systems from Panasonic, which offer different base stations and differing numbers of cordless handsets packaged together. I purchased the KX-TG6645B model which has five total handsets, all cordless.
